Press Release - MUSC | GSSE - 08/06/2009 |
The Malta University Sports Club (MUSC) would like to extend its congratulations to all those who participated in the 24th edition of the Games of the Small States of Europe. Malta is one of the eight countries who have contributed athletic talent towards this ever growing biennial multi-sport event. The Games took place during the week starting Monday 1st June 2009 which collided with the examinations of the second semester at the University of Malta. One cannot help but feel obliged to commend those students who patriotically put their studies on hold to represent Malta in the Games of the Small States of Europe. This year, Malta succeeded in winning three gold medals, five silver ones and thirteen bronze medals. Malta particularly excelled in the women’s basketball and also did well in the athletics department in which Diane Borg, Lara Scerri, Charlene Attard, Alessandra Pace, and Andy Grech amongst others who also took part, all of who are University students. MUSC fully supports and thanks such students who give an example to all other students who are able to give time for sports while still studying at University or during their 6th Form. Thank you also goes to all those who attended and congratulations to all to participated. MUSC also appreciates and thank the effort in organizing training and coaching for all participants by the Malta Olympic Committee. |
